PT Kahf Global Resources was set up in Batam to do one thing properly: get good Indonesian product to buyers overseas without the usual guesswork.
Indonesia grows some of the best seaweed and vanilla in the world, and a lot of it still reaches buyers through three or four hands, each one adding a margin and losing information along the way.
We started KGR to shorten that chain. We work directly with farmers, drying yards and small processors, and directly with the buyer at the other end. Nobody in the middle is guessing what the other side wants.
The company is registered in Batam, Kepulauan Riau, which puts us within reach of both the producing islands and the shipping lanes that serve Singapore and the rest of the region.
Our suppliers are mostly family operations. They do not have credit lines to absorb a late payment, so we pay when we collect and we do not renegotiate after the goods are in our truck.
In exchange we ask for consistency: the same cut, the same drying time, the same packing every run. That is the only way a buyer overseas can plan around us, and it is the reason our repeat orders keep coming from the same handful of yards.
If we have eight tonnes, we quote eight tonnes. No inflated capacity to look bigger than we are.
Photos are of your lot, dated, not a library shot from last season.
A delay, a weather problem or an off spec batch reaches you from us before it reaches you from the vessel.
Our price is the farm price plus our margin. There are no discovery fees added later.
Al Kahfi runs sourcing and buyer relationships. He is the one who visits the yards, argues about moisture content, and answers your WhatsApp on a Sunday if a container is moving.
Before KGR he worked on the commercial side of regional trade out of Batam, which is where the habit of checking everything twice came from.
